• OUR STORY •
One day in 2021, Sophie was on her way to grab breakfast at Iron Roost in Ballston Spa, but when she arrived, it was closed. Looking for a backup, she walked into Nomad, the closest café. She was immediately drawn to the atmosphere, and when Nick (the owner) served her, she was impressed by how good the coffee was—it was the best she'd ever had.
She started stopping by every Thursday on her breaks from work to grade papers, and Nick would always ask if she wanted more water or offer her a free drink. They never talked much, but there was something about those small moments that kept Sophie coming back.
Then one day, Sophie walked in with a copy of The Idiot by Dostoyevsky, and that was the opening Nick needed. He asked about the book, and from there, they started talking more. They talked about literature, coffee, and eventually everything else.
From that day on, Thursdays were no longer just about coffee. They were about shared stories, laughter, and a connection that grew with every conversation. What started as a simple stop for a cup of coffee became something neither of them had expected, and soon enough, neither could imagine life without it.

• SPECIAL TOUCHES •
I spent the night before the wedding at Saratoga Arms and then we also spent our wedding night there. It was such a great getting ready space and they have a great tea service that you can include.
PERSONAL TOUCHES
We created a poetry room with a typewriter and a bottle of our favorite whisky, Two Stacks (from First Fill Spirits on 68 Washington Street) for guests to enjoy.
Our after party was burgers and beers at Herbie's Burgers on Phila.
Our jazz band was students from Skidmore College.
• ADVICE TO PASS ALONG •
While planning a wedding, many people will try to tell you what you're "supposed" to do. If something doesn't feel necessary or right for you as a couple, just don't do it!
