Our Story...
If you would have asked them when they met in the summer of 2014 as college upperclassmen, Kailee and Steve would have told you they were an unlikely couple. They had plans to enroll in unrelated graduate programs and they each doubted the prospects for a serious relationship when they were unsure of where their post-collegiate lives would take them. Despite their doubts, their chemistry developed quickly due to shared roots in Upstate NY and other commonalities, revealing that the self-proclaimed “unlikely couple” was, in fact, not unlikely at all.
During years of a semi-long-distance relationship while Kailee studied veterinary medicine at Cornell and Steve attended law school at Syracuse, each spent an inordinate amount of time from 2015-2019 traveling to and from Ithaca, Syracuse, New York City, Buffalo, and even Charlotte, NC as they visited each other while completing degree programs and internships.
In 2019, they moved to New York City to begin their careers. They were engaged on 6/30/2023 in their favorite location in Central Park, surrounded by family with friends from near and far ready to celebrate on a rooftop in Midtown shortly thereafter. They returned to Upstate NY’s Capital Region shortly after their engagement and were married at Saratoga National Golf Club on 9/20/2025 in a beautiful ballroom ceremony followed by a cocktail hour on the terrace and a tented reception with a live band, full dance floor, and Anna’s Espresso Bar, named after their beloved Siberian Husky!

Rehearsal dinner
Our rehearsal dinner night was incredibly special at Solevo Kitchen and Social. Wanting to spend as much time on the dance floor enjoying our band on wedding day, we did speeches from friends and family the night before at the rehearsal dinner, which were perfectly intimate and emotional, and one of my favorite parts of the weekend.
First dance
We took lessons at Fred Astaire for a few months leading up to the wedding, and created some amazing memories together! They were a fun wedding preparation activity that was low stress - very different from detail planning.
Our dog
We love our dog and tried to incorporate her in as many ways as possible! We named our espresso bar after her, had custom cocktail napkins, included her in our guestbook sign, and had a figurine of her made for our wedding cake topper.
Signs/decor
Steve designed all of our signage and menus on Canva, and we printed them at places like Staples and Walgreens! It was a great way to add personal touches but also save money in our budget.
Private toast
We are big champagne lovers and patrons of Bocage Champagne Bar (where we also took our engagement photos). After our wedding ceremony, we snuck away for a private champagne toast with a bottle of champagne that we fell in love with at Bocage, Drappier. It was the perfect celebration and "we did it!" moment before we went out to see our guests at cocktail hour.
• Advice to Pass Along •
Enjoy the planning process! Of course it can be stressful but we had the most fun dreaming about our day together, planning details, and designing small little touches that made the day ours. Our day-of coordinators were the MVPs of our wedding day. We got to relax and soak in every moment of the morning, afternoon, and evening, and they took care of all of the details! They provided things I didn't even know that I needed that day and allowed us and our families to enjoy our day to the fullest. Sneak away for 15 minutes for those sunset photos! They are worth it.
